Perthshire based multimedia jewellery artist. Inspired by the ancient surrounding landscapes of Scotland, its flora, fauna and lore.

Birks and Fern takes much of its inspiration from the famously scenic, Birks of Aberfeldy.

Synonymous with this small, yet breath takingly beautiful place, stand numerous striking silver birches or “Birks”. The bark of the birch stands proudly, contrasting against the surrounding scenery of lush greenery or the bountiful textures and colours, depending on the time of year. Often accompanied at the feet of these birch trees are the ubiquitous ferns of Perthshire’s abundant forests, woods & glens.

The incredible geology and seascapes of north west coasts of Scotland are another place that deeply influences many of the designs forged by Birks & Fern. Dark grey skies, towering craggy munros, vast stretches of pristine white sands and the endless turquoise hued waters stretching to the horizon.

Small batch and bespoke hand crafted pieces are formed with media such as metal, clay, glass and stone. Each piece is unique in its execution, being created entirely by hand, hammer and fire within the Perthshire based studio workshop.

Birks & Fern jewellery is made to last a lifetime and beyond. No part is designed to be thrown away but rather repaired, reused or the materials recycled into another jewellery piece. Eco conscious materials are responsibility and ethically sourced for creating each piece, to reduce impact and ensure quality.
